How to Write a Good Blog Post
Bloggers have to write about many subjects on a regular basis, and the key to writing a good blog post is to generate engaging content that captivates their audience. With this in mind, there are many things to think about when writing a blog post, and these come down to the overall strategy and basic principles for generating content.
Your writing style may vary depending on the subjects you are writing about, but a non too formal approach is good, and keep you reader base in mind, as big words that only some experts may know will confuse other readers.
Basic Principals
A title that includes key words and closely relates to the subject are a good start. A good title will capture a readers eye, and get the reader to read the introduction to see what the article post is about. So it's also good to include a good introduction, which covers the subjects you intend to cover in the rest of the post in a summary. Once you've got their interest, they'll read on.
Make it easy to read, remember that reading text on a computer screen is much harder than reading text that's printed on paper. So keep your sentences nice and short, to the point, with short paragraphs. Breaking you article up into manageable chinks will make it easy for readers to scan it, and able to process your content quickly.
Don't write war and peace, a great article will provide the info you want to get across, but if it's too long and wanders off the subject, readers may get board or not even bother to read it at all. If this is a common theme, they won't bother to come back and read other articles you post in the future.
Always, always, always, check that spelling. Edit your article by reading it out loud. You may be writing your post in English, but not all internet users may be able to read it very well, and miss-spelt words and typos will make your article difficult to read. It also doesn't look that good if all your posts are full of errors. Readers may question whether you are able to write properly let alone be an expert on the subject you are talking about.
Finally, consider the Search Engines, as you need them to send readers to you blog, and if they can find it, then what is all this for? Common sense prevails here, search engines want to provide users with the best users experiences, so posts that are appealing to readers will appeal to the search engines. Use keywords within your titles and text that are very closely related to the subject you are writing about. Relevancy is key, so avoid stuffing your articles with as many keywords as you can think of in the subject area is not a great idea.
Planning
When you first set out to start blogging, formulate a plan. This is only a very basic idea of what your blog is about, and note a couple of subjects you intend to focus on. This way, you can refer back to it in the future when thinking about what to write and perhaps putting a series of articles together. You will be able to recall your original objectives without having to think about your overall strategy every time you begin writing a new post.
